SVS CCTV cameras support new Covid19 drive through test centre
Wednesday, 29 April 2020
SVS CCTV cameras support new Covid-19 drive through test centre. A Coronavirus (Covid-19) testing drive-through facility has been built in the north of Portsmouth. It is being used for the testing of NHS and care staff from the Isle of Wight and Hampshire. The site can cater for hundreds of Covid-19 tests a day. Smart Video & Sensing have commissioned their traffic management CCTV system on behalf of Portsmouth City Council around the Tipner site to monitor traffic in the area. The Tipner cameras are part of a 30 camera system installed by SVS which allows easy access to all major routes around Portsmouth. The site where the drive-through testing will take place was due to be used as an emergency lorry park in the event of a no-deal Brexit and is situated in Tipner just off the M275.

Another successful site survey using the UMRR-11
Thursday, 12 March 2020
We have recently carried out another successful site survey using the versatile UMRR-11 radar detector, this time to provide virtual ‘ALL RED’ loop zones within a narrow railway tunnel on a very busy shuttle working traffic signal site in Pirbright, Surrey. The existing ‘ALL RED’ loop detectors within the tunnel have failed and to close the tunnel to re-cut them would involve a very long road diversion on the approaches to both sides of the tunnel. Mounting to the existing traffic signal site infrastructure, the smartmicro UMRR-11 radar detector can easily be deployed with minimal time and effort to re-instate the critical ‘ALL RED’ detection at this site. The UMRR-11 can provide up to 8 zones of detection across 4 lanes width back to a 160 metre distance and can be used for multi applications including MOVA, VA, SCOOT, COUNT, or any other application where specific vehicle detection is required. For more information or to discuss your requirements, please contact us on +44 (0) 2392 248250. #tunnel #smartcity #transport #highway #trafficsignal #transportation #MOVA #VA

Successful smartmicro radar evaluation for MOVA
Thursday, 05 December 2019
Successful smartmicro radar evaluation for multi-Lane MOVA applications. We are using the UMRR11 radar for loop emulation and replacement in a number of installations including MOVA applications. The UMRR11 is a multi lane device making it extremely competitive and presenting an excellent and cost-effective business case for its use over conventional loop installations. At less than 5-watts, the UMRR11 can also be used in solar applications. Used here in conjunction a Siemens traffic signal controller. Get in touch for a demonstration!

SVS exhibit at the JCT Symposium in Nottingham
Tuesday, 17 September 2019
A busy day at JCT Symposium 2019 in Nottingham. First day ended well with a great deal of interest shown in our Sprinx incident detection technology, radars from Smartmicro and our recently introduced V2X product range for connected vehicles from Nordsys. It was good to see our new Operations Manager, Lee Shepherd re-establishing connections with customers in the Local Authority and Consultant sectors.
