SVS CCTV cameras support new Covid-19 drive through test centre in Portsmouth.

A Coronavirus (Covid-19) testing drive-through facility has been setup in Tipner, just off of junction 1 of the M275 in Portsmouth.
It is being used for the testing of NHS and care staff with Coronavirus symptoms from Portsmouth and the surrounding Hampshire area. The site can cater for hundreds of Covid19 tests a day.

Portsmouth City Council are utilising a traffic management CCTV system provided by Smart Video & Sensing to monitor traffic in the area and to ensure that the traffic management is working effectively.
The Tipner cameras are part of a 13 camera system installed by SVS which allows network management staff to have easy remote access to monitor traffic conditions on the western approach to the city.

The site where the drive-through testing is taking place was due to be used as a facility to check lorry documentation in the event of a no-deal Brexit and so was able to be configured into a testing facility in only a few days.

Paul Darlow, Traffic & Network Manager for Portsmouth City Council said "It was an extremely short timescale from decision-point to go-live of the Covid-19 testing site in Portsmouth. Fortunately the SVS camera system had been installed on the main western approach into the city as part of our No-Deal Brexit preparations. Over the last two weeks the cameras have proved to be invaluable at monitoring the patterns of traffic entering the testing site. The cloud-hosted nature of the system has meant that my team have been able to view the video footage whilst working from home."
